Casino Owners Pushing For Twenty Four Hour Gambling In Missouri
The state of Missouri is not one of those states that makes their casinos shut down in the middle of the night. They do, however, ask them to close down for at least three hours a day by law.
That law may soon be changing after casino owners have said they would like to be open around the clock. The lawmakers in the state are not necessarily against the idea, but they have not decided on the issue as of yet.
“We don’t have anything before us right now. I think they (casino owners) would like it(expanded gambling hours),” said Gene McNary, the Director of the Missouri Gaming Commission.
Missouri is already experimenting on a part time basis with twenty four hour gambling. They allow their casinos to stay open for twenty four hours on the weekends. During the week they can only stay open for twenty one hours. On holidays the casinos can also stay open all the time.
With the economy currently hurting the casino industry in the US, it is unlikely even if they had the option that all Missouri casinos would stay open twenty four hours. They would have to individually weigh whether or not it would be profitable to add more staff at this time.
